1. Who We Are
Sentiré Pilates Academy (“the Academy”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an online and in-person Pilates education platform operated by Sentire Pilates Belgravia Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15319714.
Our registered address, which is also our studio, is 23 Eccleston Place, London, United Kingdom, SW1W 9NF.
You can reach us at academy@sentirepilates.co.uk or on 020 4616 1115.
2. Terms & Conditions
2.1 Acceptance
By accessing or using the Sentiré Pilates Academy website and learning platform (the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2.2 Eligibility
The Platform is intended for individuals aged 18 or over. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
2.3 Accounts
We create your account from the email address you give us when you enrol, and it opens one week before your course begins. We will email you when it does. Sign-in is by a one-time code sent to that address, so keep access to the mailbox itself secure; you are responsible for all activity under your account. Please notify us immediately at academy@sentirepilates.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.
2.4 Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Share, redistribute, or resell any course materials, videos, documents, or assessment content.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ accounts or any part of the Platform’s infrastructure.
- Use the Platform for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms.
- Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or affiliation with Sentiré Pilates.
2.5 Course Enrolment & Fees
Enrolment in a course or workshop constitutes a binding agreement to pay the advertised fee. All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (£) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payment terms and methods will be confirmed at the point of booking.
2.6 Your Right to Cancel
Because you buy from us at a distance, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the day after your enrolment is confirmed to change your mind and receive a full refund. You do not have to give a reason.
Your access to the learning platform does not open until a week before your course begins, so in almost every case your 14 days will have passed before you have seen any of the course content. Where that is so, cancelling within the 14 days costs you nothing at all.
If your enrolment falls close enough to the start that we open your access during those 14 days, we will ask you to agree to that first, and to acknowledge that once we have supplied the digital course content you lose the right to cancel it. If you do not agree, we will simply wait until the 14 days have passed before opening your access. If the in-person teaching has begun at your request within the 14 days and you then cancel, you pay only a proportionate amount for what you have already received.
To cancel, email academy@sentirepilates.co.uk with your name and course date. A clear statement that you wish to cancel is enough; you do not need to use a particular form. We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of accepting the cancellation.
2.7 Cancelling After the 14 Days
After the statutory period has passed, the following applies. These terms are ours, not statutory, and they do not affect the rights described in 2.6:
- More than 8 weeks before the course starts: full refund, less any payment-processing fee we cannot recover.
- 4 to 8 weeks before: 50% refund, or transfer your full payment to a later course.
- Less than 4 weeks before, or after the course has started: no refund, because your place has been held and cannot be resold at short notice on a course of eight.
If something serious and unforeseen happens to you, tell us. We would rather find a sensible answer than hold you to a schedule.
2.8 Deferring to a Later Course
You may move to the next available course at no extra charge, provided you tell us at least 4 weeks before your course start date. One deferral is included; a second is at our discretion and may carry an administration fee. A place is personal to you and cannot be transferred or sold to anyone else.
2.9 If We Cancel or Move a Course
Each course runs with a maximum of eight students and needs a minimum of four to go ahead. If we do not reach that minimum, or if we have to cancel or reschedule for any other reason, you may choose either a full refund or a transfer to the next available course. We will tell you as early as we can.
We may need to change the dates of an in-person session because of illness, studio closure, or other events outside our reasonable control. Where that happens we will offer an alternative date. If no alternative works for you, you may cancel and receive a proportionate refund for the parts of the programme you have not received. We are not liable for travel or accommodation you have booked around a session; please take that into account before booking non-refundable travel.
2.10 How Long Your Access Lasts
Your access to the learning platform opens one week before your course start date and lasts for 12 months from that date, which is also the period within which you should complete your assessments. If you need longer, ask us; we will not withdraw access from someone who is genuinely still working through the programme.
2.11 Attendance and Your Health
The in-person days are a required part of the programme and the dates are published before you book. Each visit runs Friday, Sunday and Monday; the Saturday between them is not a teaching day, and is kept free so that you can train in the studio yourself. If you miss a teaching day, we will do our best to fit you into the equivalent day on a later course, subject to space, but we cannot guarantee it and we cannot refund a missed day.
When you enrol you confirm that you have read the health and safety notice in section 3, and that you know of no medical reason why you should not take part in Pilates. You must tell your instructor about any injury, condition, pregnancy or medication that could affect your safe participation, before the session it affects. This matters more here than in a class, because on this course you will also be handling and adjusting other people.
2.12 Your Own Insurance
Sentiré Pilates holds insurance covering our own studio and teaching. That cover does not extend to you when you teach or observe elsewhere. Before you carry out teaching practice or observation hours outside our studio, you are responsible for arranging your own cover, and the studio hosting you may require proof of it. We recommend you also hold appropriate personal medical cover for the duration of your training.
2.13 Photography and Filming
You may not record, photograph, screen-capture or stream any part of a session or of the online materials. This protects both the course content and the privacy of the other students in the room.
We sometimes photograph or film in the studio for teaching and marketing. We will always ask before using an image in which you are identifiable, and you may say no, or change your mind later, without it affecting your place or your assessment in any way.
Where the programme asks you to film yourself teaching, that recording is yours. If you submit it for assessment we use it only to assess you, and we delete it once your certification is complete.
2.14 Assessments & Certification
Assessments are part of the programme and a pass is required to progress. Some are marked by a tutor; others, where the programme says so, you mark yourself. Which is which is stated on each module before you begin it.
On successful completion you receive the Sentiré Pilates Academy Instructor Certification. Please read the next sentence carefully, because it is the thing students most often assume otherwise. This is our own certification. It is not a regulated qualification, it is not accredited by Ofqual, and it is not awarded by an external awarding body. Most Pilates teacher training in the UK works this way, but you should not assume any particular employer, insurer or membership body will recognise it. If recognition by a specific organisation matters to you, check with that organisation before you enrol, and ask us if we can help.
2.15 Resits, Appeals and Complaints
If you do not pass a tutor-marked assessment, you may resit it. The first resit is included; further attempts may carry a fee, which we will tell you about before you commit to one.
If you believe an assessment decision is wrong, you can appeal. Email academy@sentirepilates.co.uk within 28 days of receiving the result, saying what you think was wrong and why. Your work will be reviewed by someone who was not involved in the original decision, and we will write to you with the outcome within 28 days.
The same address takes complaints about anything else. We will acknowledge within 5 working days and aim to resolve within 28 days. If you are still unhappy, you can seek free independent advice from Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133, and nothing here affects your right to take a dispute to court.
2.16 Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these Terms, engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or the Academy, or for any other reason we consider necessary to protect the integrity of the Platform. Where possible, we will provide notice before termination.
2.17 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sentiré Pilates Academy, its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your access to or use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.
2.18 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
2.19 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
3. Health & Safety Disclaimer
Pilates is a physical activity. While it is generally considered safe for most people, participation in any exercise programme carries inherent risks.
Before starting any exercise programme, including the practical elements of this Academy, you should consult with a qualified medical professional, particularly if you:
- Are pregnant or have recently given birth.
- Have a pre-existing medical condition (including but not limited to cardiovascular conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, or neurological disorders).
- Are recovering from surgery.
- Have not exercised regularly for an extended period.
The content provided through the Academy — including videos, written materials, and in-person instruction — is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for professional medical or physiotherapy advice.
By participating in the Academy’s programme, you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk. Sentiré Pilates Academy accepts no liability for any injury, loss, or damage sustained as a result of following or attempting to follow the exercises or guidance provided, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
During in-person sessions, please inform your instructor of any injuries, conditions, or discomfort before the session begins. If you experience pain or discomfort during any exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention.
4. Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
4.1 Data Controller
The data controller is Sentire Pilates Belgravia Limited of 23 Eccleston Place, London, United Kingdom, SW1W 9NF, contactable at academy@sentirepilates.co.uk.
4.2 What Data We Collect
We collect and process the following personal data:
- Account information: your name and email address (provided at enrolment).
- Learning progress: which lessons you have completed, assessment scores, number of attempts, and module completion status.
- Usage data: the date and time of your last login, and your cohort assignment.
- Enquiry and enrolment data: what you submit through a contact or booking form (name, email, phone, message), and for an enrolment, the course, the amount paid and the date.
- Teaching practice records: the observations, reflections and self-assessments you log as part of the programme. Please note that these can name other people — the instructor you observed and the studio you visited. Only you and Academy staff can see them, we use them only to assess and support your training, and you should keep your comments professional and factual for that reason.
- Technical data: your browser type, IP address, and device information, collected automatically through essential cookies (see Section 5).
4.3 How We Use Your Data
| Purpose | Lawful Basis |
|---|---|
| Providing access to the learning platform | Performance of a contract |
| Tracking your learning progress and assessment results | Performance of a contract |
| Responding to your enquiries | Legitimate interest |
| Sending course-related communications (e.g. session reminders, assessment results) | Performance of a contract |
| Improving the Platform and fixing issues | Legitimate interest |
| Processing payments | Performance of a contract |
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.
4.4 Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share your data with the following categories of service providers, who process data on our behalf under contract:
- Hosting & infrastructure: Vercel (website hosting) and Supabase (database hosting).
- Video delivery: Cloudflare. Your email address is used to mint a short-lived, single-viewer link each time you open a lesson video, so that paid course content cannot be shared.
- Payment processing: Stripe. We never see or store your card details; Stripe is a separate data controller for them and its own privacy policy applies.
- Email: Resend, for sign-in codes, enrolment confirmations and course notifications.
4.5 International Transfers
Some of our service providers (Vercel, Supabase) process data in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), or the service provider’s participation in an adequate transfer framework.
4.6 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specifically:
- Account data & learning progress: retained while your account is active, then for up to 3 years after your last login.
- Enquiry form submissions: retained for up to 12 months.
- Payment records: retained for 7 years as required by HMRC.
4.7 Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly-used, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at academy@sentirepilates.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
4.8 Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
5. Cookie Notice
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use only strictly necessary cookies that are essential for the Platform to function. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sentire_session | Keeps you signed in while you use the Platform. Contains a cryptographically signed token — no personal data is stored in the cookie itself. | 30 days |
The Platform also stores your course progress and teaching practice notes in your browser’s local storage, so that the site still works if your connection drops and so it does not have to re-fetch everything on each page. This is strictly necessary for the service you have asked for, it is readable only by this site on your own device, and it is cleared when you sign out.
Because we use only strictly necessary storage, no consent banner is required under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). If we ever introduce optional cookies, such as analytics or advertising, we will update this notice and ask for your consent before setting them.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform — including but not limited to course materials, videos, text, images, graphics, logos, assessments, and the Sentiré Pilates brand identity — is the intellectual property of Sentiré Pilates or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your enrolment grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the course materials for your personal, non-commercial educational purposes only. You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, distribute, or publicly display any course content.
- Record, screen-capture, or otherwise duplicate video content.
- Create derivative works based on the course materials.
- Remove any copyright, trade mark, or other proprietary notices.
Unauthorised use of any content may result in termination of your account and may give rise to a claim for damages and/or constitute a criminal offence.
7. Accessibility
We are committed to making the Sentiré Pilates Academy accessible to all users. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA where practicable.
We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility:
- Semantic HTML with ARIA attributes for interactive elements (progress bars, expandable sections, assessment options).
- Sufficient colour contrast across the interface.
- Keyboard-navigable controls throughout the Platform.
- Meaningful alt text for images and decorative elements marked as hidden from assistive technology.
If you encounter any accessibility barriers, please contact us at academy@sentirepilates.co.uk. We welcome your feedback and will do our best to address any issues promptly.
